The Federal Reserve is the nation’s central bank, comprising the Board of Governors in Washington, DC, and 12 regional reserve banks across the country. Meredith Black is the first VP and COO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. She has been with the organization for more than 30 years, holding various positions, which gives her a unique perspective on the topic of leadership. During her talk, Black will speak about leadership through the lenses of "why?" and "why not?"

Meredith N. Black has served as first vice president and chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas since December 2016. She is responsible for the daily operations and financial performance of the Dallas Fed, including its branches in Houston, San Antonio, and El Paso. Previously, Black was SVP responsible for financial management and information technology groups, serving as the bank’s chief financial, risk, and information officer. She has led or chaired Federal Reserve System committees and workgroups, including the Federal Reserve System’s Technology Services Council. Black holds a bachelor’s in economics from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore., and attended the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.

With 23 years’ experience in corporations, as well as associations, Tamra Gaines, vice president, Experiences & Events at Cornerstone Credit Union League, specializes in strategic meetings management, professional development, and training. She provides expert knowledge in organization, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills that she applies to conceiving and organizing more than 40 large-scale educational events annually, benefiting Cornerstone members. Gaines is also an accomplished public speaker and a mentor to professional meeting planners. Achieving Greater Gender Balance among Leadership Positions
The World Council of Credit Unions' Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) provides credit union women the opportunity to network with peers and business partners and to make measurable differences in the lives of their communities and each other. GWLN has engaged more than 2,600 female and male members in 100 Sister Societies in the U.S. and 18 countries, provided 51 scholarships to women from 23 countries, and raised over $2.5 million. Among its goals, GWLN fosters discussion between industry professionals; collaboratively changes cultures; identifies, encourages, and empowers female leaders; makes diversity part of business strategy; and provides actionable steps for organizations to follow.
Eleni Giakoumopoulos, WOCCU
Eleni Giakoumopoulos is corporate communications manager with the World Council of Credit Unions. She has 20 years' experience in 15 countries in Europe. Her diverse background includes managing European Union cross-border cooperation programs through consultancy, membership recruitment for a national trade association, content development for print and digital media, and directing career services in an educational organization in Northern Greece. Previously, Giakoumopoulos was part of board communications at an international finance institution, working with ministries of finance and foreign affairs supporting economic development and regional cooperation in the Black Sea region. She is part of the Global Women’s Leadership Network and a member of the International Association of Business Communicators. She holds a master’s in global marketing from the University of Liverpool.

Jill Nowacki helps boards of directors and executive teams foster growth, increase relevance, and strategically address the value of human capital. She has been helping credit unions win the war for talent and expand the economic capacity of their members and communities since 2001. Most recently, she was president/CEO of Credit Union League of Connecticut. Her background includes leadership at state and national trade associations and expertise in politics, communication, human resources, strategic planning, community development, and marketing. Nowacki holds a Master of Public Administration from University of Montana and a bachelor’s in communication and PR from Carroll College (Helena, Mont.). She is a certified International Credit Union Development Educator, Certified Association Executive, and past recipient of the Northwest Credit Union Association’s Young Professional of the Year Award.

Rachel Pross, Chief Risk Officer for Maps Credit Union
Rachel Pross is chief risk officer of Maps Credit Union, providing strategic leadership for the Risk Division, which encompasses regulatory compliance, security, audit, ERM, governmental affairs, accounting, finance, IT, and cybersecurity. Pross also oversees Maps’ transparent cannabis banking program, one of the largest such operations in America. She is an expert on compliance, fraud, risk, and leadership. In February 2019, she represented Credit Union National Association and testified to Congress in favor of the SAFE Banking Act. Pross holds a Bachelor of Science from Grand Canyon University’s Colangelo College of Business and certifications in regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, and vendor management.
